So let me see if I understand this correctly..

Palestinian gunmen shot up the car of a PA officer in a street crowded with children, killing 3 of them.

So, it wasn’t an Israeli plane, it wasn’t an Israeli attacker.
It was a Palestinian shooting at another Palestinian.
Of course there is no outrage, no denunciations, no accusations
It’s normal, isn’t it? We expect it, don’t we?
it's almost as if this is the normal way for people to behave within their own nation.

What's interesting though is that what seems to happen in this conflict, really has very little to do with what goes on militarily. The world doesn’t realize what we already know, but sometimes it seems like the Palestinians do - "What Israel couldn't do by force, we were able to do with internal dispute, lack of leadership, accompanied by economic pressure and the siege on Gaza."

It seems that their own internal fighting is doing the job they accuse us of.

The most interesting in this situation though, is that they still manage to convince themselves that despite their own madness, it’s still our fault that they are suffering.

Do you mean to say that if Israel did not exist, there would suddenly be democracy in Egypt, that the schools in Morocco would be better, that the public clinics in Jordan would function better?

I think so.

Can you please explain to me what the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has to do with these problems?

The Palestinian cause is central for Arab thinking.

In the end, is it a matter of feelings of self-esteem?

Exactly. It's because we always lose to Israel. It gnaws at the people in the Middle East that such a small country as Israel, with only about 7 million inhabitants, can defeat the Arab nation with its 350 million. That hurts our collective ego. The Palestinian problem is in the genes of every Arab. The West's problem is that it does not understand this.

And I'm supposed to believe this is a conflict operating according to the laws of nature?

uh huh.. sure..

They dont need us to kill them, occupy them, destroy them -
they are pawns ..
we are pawns ..
the rules of the game are other than they realize..than many of us realize..
their bombs dont kill us, our disengagement plans dont expel us.
we play our part, they play their parts
but it's still all parts being played out by actors..
a cosmic performance, directed by the One above.

I think that we do it ourselves
we sorta encourage it by agreeing 'oh yes your royalness mr bush/blair/abdulla/osama'
the gov of israel seems to always be wrong no matter what

Nothing personal, but this doesn't make much sense. You're beginning to sound like the Sabra with these confusing pro-Israel rants!

(bites lip nervously, looks around the room makin sure no one heard him verbalize sucha terribly outrageous comparison.)

Sabra- I heard a Psak that you're not aloud to say "ho ho ho" in the month of December because of Chukas Akum.

Anonymookie- Ok, after carefully re-reading this, it's making a little more sense. For the future though, try to make it apparent where and you are quoting from, who's saying what, when are they saying it and in what context.

I'm not sure of the 'One above' reference though. Obviously he takes a very big hand in this confusion, but I think it's directed by human error.

The way I see it is that their are two sides:

1. The Israeli side which tries to present itself as the peace doves that unfortunately have to be big bullies to insure their survival.

2. The Palestinians who seek to conveniently blame Israel for their own problems because Israel is this bully. This is especially effective in a world dominated by media and foreign relations.

It's no longer about facts, it's about who can present their plight as being more critical and can thereby justify their own violence.

the sabra - but it was a compliment of course!

nemo - i dont agree. i think its g-d running it all, how much the marketing works, what poele beleive. G-s just makes it so that we can explain it thru the laws of nature (israeli politicans are messing up, arabs are better at propaganda..) but in truth, He decides the effect it will have. the ONLY thing we have control over is our spiritual choices.. and those directly affect the physical results.
i beleive..

well if we behave we will have a nice friendly inviting land of israel waiting for us and if we dnt behave we will get expelled, fighting, and chaos.
its all based on that.. so we choose what outcome we want..

anonymoookie, then how does one reconcile the paradox of :
** hashgoco protis and
** bechirah chofshis

free choice is a spiritual concept. choosing what color socks you wear is not a matter of free choice. whether youre going to be nice or hurtful to someone, or daven with kavana that is a matter of free choice.
the outcome of politics in israel (and everything else in the world) is based on those decisions we make.
every action, every free choice we make has a cosmic effect and that guides the fate of israel (in the case of this post).
so you can have a small army that wins over a big army, if g-d wills it - if we deserve it and have earned it through our choices / or we can have the biggest army in the world and be hit right at the core, if this is what G-d decides to do based on our choices.
basically my point in this post is that its not our guns and tanks that will get rid of the enemy, its our individual spiritual choices - and we can see this from how nonsensical this whole conflict is. it just makes no sense in the natural order of things.. there must be more at play.

hmm wow i dont know how to answer this question :) i hope thats what you meant, and i hope this makes sense.. if not.. sorry..

are you saying that the hashgocho prtis that occurs in this world is a cause and effect of the bechira chofishis that we make-

adn are you saying that our spiritual achievements or falls essentially affect our material wellbeing?

but this is the way i live my life..

of course, g-d is infinite so the variables that "affect" him or life are infinite. but just because there are other variables involved, it doesnt change the fact that this is in my control and thats the only thing i can work with. it keeps me focused on the reality of things, and not caught up in the illusion.
